# The license key

Answers the question: How do you paste the key, and what happens when it runs out?

The key is pasted into the console of an On-Premise server. How the license reaches a SaaS server is described on the ["SaaS and On-Premise"](https://docs.wyrd.link/en/server/hosting/) page.

## Pasting the key

The key is one long line beginning with `WYRD1.`. Open the License page in the console, paste the whole line and save. The limit rises at once, without a restart.

## How the key is checked

The Wyrd server verifies the key's signature by itself, including on a server with no outbound access.

The Wyrd server asks us for the phone application build and news of a new version once a day. Those requests carry nothing about the license.

## When the term ends

After the key's term ends, the console, the history and the device list stay where they are. Until renewal the Wyrd server stores no new data from the phones. The only command it carries out is "Remove work profile".

A warning appears in the console seven days before the end. It turns into an alarm the moment the term ends.

> A new key joins the old ones. The Wyrd server picks the best: an unexpired one first, then the one with the higher device count. When all have expired, the limit is taken from the best of them, and the connected devices stay.
