What the server needs

Answers the question Which server is needed?

Resources

• 2 cores and 2 GB of memory.
• 20 GB of disk, 40 GB recommended: room for device logs and the map cache.
• Debian 13, a physical or virtual server. The package also installs on Ubuntu 22.04 and newer.

Network

• A domain name pointed at this server.
• An open port for the console.
• A separate open port for the phones. They hold a permanent connection to the Wyrd server, apart from browser connections.

There are no third-party addresses, clouds or intermediaries in the scheme.

The map

The map is needed when a lost device is being located. The Wyrd server loads it from our infrastructure over an anonymous network: we do not know who requests the map, or which part of it.

Loaded areas stay in a cache on your server, so the same place is requested once.

The map file can also be placed on your own server in full.
